*NURTURING NOBLE HEARTS: THE TRANSFORMATIVE POWER Of GOOD BEHAVIOUR IN YOUTH*
In today's fast-paced world, the youths face numerous challenges that can shape their future. As they navigate through adolescence and young adulthood, it is essential to emphasize the importance of good behaviour, guided by Islamic and cultural principles. Good behaviour is the foundation upon which a successful, happy, and fulfilling life is built. It encompasses values and traits such as respect, empathy, integrity, truthfulness, honesty, trustworthiness, kindness, and self-discipline, which are vital for personal growth and development.
The Qur'an emphasizes the significance of good behaviour, stating, "Indeed, good deeds do away with misdeeds. That is a reminder for those who remember." (11:114).
Additionally, the Noble Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him & his family) said, "The best among you are those who have the best manners and character."
(Sahih Bukhari).
Imam Ali (A.S) further stressed the importance of good behaviour, saying, "Good behaviour is the greatest wealth."
(Nahjul Balagha).
Similarly, Imam Hasan (A.S) emphasized, "The noblest of you is the one with the best behaviour." (Tuhaf al-Uqool).
Shaikh Ibraheem Zakzaky, the leader of the Islamic Movement, has consistently encouraged youths to exhibit good behaviours and attitudes. He emphasizes that good behaviour is a fundamental aspect of a Muslim's identity and a means of pleasing Allah. By adopting good behaviour, the youths can develop a strong sense of identity, build positive relationships, and become responsible individuals.
Good behaviour also plays a crucial role in shaping the youths' academic and professional performance. Students who exhibit good behaviour, such as punctuality, active listening, and respect for teachers, tend to perform better academically.
Similarly, in the workplace, employees who demonstrate good behaviour, such as teamwork, communication, and integrity, are more likely to succeed and advance in their careers.
In addition to its individual benefits, good behaviour has a profound impact on society as a whole. When the youths adopt good behaviours, they become positive role models for their peers, contributing to a more harmonious and productive community. Good behaviour also fosters social cohesion, promotes tolerance, and helps to break down cultural and religious barriers.
As Shaikh Zakzaky emphasizes, good behaviour is the key to unlocking the potential of the youths. By embracing Islamic and cultural principles, the youths can cultivate noble hearts, develop a strong sense of character, and become positive contributors to society.
Parents, educators, religious leaders, as well as community leaders, have a responsibility to guide and support the youths in their journey towards good behaviour, empowering them to become the leaders of tomorrow.
